Make Your Magic Anyway

Each of us has that "mean little" voice in our head.  It's the one that tells us that we are not "smart enough, not talented enough, rich, tall, beautiful enough to be successful."  It whispers doomsday predictions in our ear about what will happen if we try something new.  That voice is loud and persuasive, because it sounds just like us.

Everyone has that voice.

The problem, of course, is if we listen to that voice we will never do anything new.  We will never write a new blog (because who would read it?).  We would never create a new business (because no one cares).  That voice will undoubtedly hold you back.

We all have that voice.

Don't listen to that voice.  Don't give in.

Your life (and the world) will be different because you chose to make your magic anyway.

Be a Connector

There is nothing like a great industry event to re-connect, re-inspire and exhaust you!  I was lucky enough to have that experience this past week at the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas.  It was awesome to get together with industry minds and help to shape the future.

Before the Expo, I attended an event called Skucon.  It was a day before the Expo and was full of inspiration and connection...and I was really glad to be a part of it.  It was hosted by the King and Queen of Commonsku...Mark and Catherine Graham.

Mark and Catherine are extraordinarily impactful in the promotional products industry.  I don't say this because they are the most powerful, most wealthy, or the smartest.  I say it because they are CONNECTORS.  They have an uncanny (and unselfish) ability to connect people in our industry so that everyone has the chance to be better...and succeed.  They have certainly been the connector between me and many people who I respect the most today.

Why am I saying this?  It's not because I want Mark and Catherine to like me (please like me!).

I say it because it's something we all need to aspire to.  The best part is, it is something we absolutely can become.  We don't have to be the most powerful, the most wealthy or the smartest.  We just need to care more.  We need to genuinely want to help people.

We can all do that, if we want.  I want to work on that...starting now.

The New Delivering Marketing Joy Podcast

It's time to take Delivering Marketing Joy to the next level!

For those that are unaware, I wrote a book in 2014 called Delivering Marketing Joy.  The book is all about helping marketers use promotional products right.  It includes chapters on different types of products, events and organizations and how to leverage promo to help your organization. I am proud of the book and I hope it has helped people do promo better.

Later that year, I started a web show by the same name.  On Delivering Marketing Joy I interview entrepreneurs, marketers, authors and leaders (via skype) about tips to grow, pitfalls to avoid and more.  We release a new show each week and we have a new one with John Lee Dumas today (Episode 65).  Yes...you should check it out!  :)

This week I am taking DMJ to the next level!  Starting Monday I have created a new Podcast series for Delivering Marketing Joy that will be available each business day!  The goal for the new podcast is to provide a short and (hopefully) sweet boost of inspiration and motivation for your day.  I would be honored if you would listen along with me.

Here is a run down of what this will look like on a day to day basis:

Monday:  Today we talk goals!  With it being the first of the year, it's a great time to focus on goals.  Here is a quick podcast on how to make your goals more likely in the New Year!

Tuesday:  On this episode we continue the chat on goals...and secret to helping you make sure your goals are actually in balance with your priorities.

Wednesday:  Since the beginning of the DMJ web show, I have been asked to create this as a podcast too.  So that is what I have done!  Each Wednesday the podcast will feature the web show that day.  I am really excited about the conversation with John Lee Dumas today, so please check it out here!

So in 2016, get ready for More #MarketingJoy!  If you want to be inspired and grow this year, please join me for the ride.  Oh...and let me know if there are topics or questions you would like to see addressed on the show, I will do my best to make it happen!
